My “White Whale”

Good Morning Dapperites,

Alright, so we all have that one item of clothing/footwear/etc. that we lust after, that we really desire. Sometimes we’re able to get it sometimes we’re not. I thought today that I would share mine.

So what is my “white whale”? None other than an authentic Neapolitan jacket made bespoke, preferrably from Sartoria Dalcuore or Cesare Attolini. So what is a “Neapolitan” jacket anyway? As the name suggests it is a style that is distinctly from Naples. Here are its features:

3 roll 2, that is to say 3 buttons with the top one rolled back into the lapel so really 2 of them button. Image from https://parisiangentleman.co.uk/2017/05/07/what-is-the-origin-of-the-three-roll-two-jacket/

A “spalla camicia” shoulder. Note the elegant “shirring” of the fabric

Which leads to the entire finished jacket looking like this:

It’s beautiful, elegant, has that Neapolitan flair and perhaps more importantly. Keeps you cool during the summer months due to the minimal lining. Ah, one day you shall be mine!

So let me know in the comments what’s your “white whale” of fashion??

As always, keep it dapper,

Dapper as EPH

As many of you know, I moonlight as a personal style representative for a great company, EPH Apparel. Recently I took advantage of my employee discount to get myself that one flashy, showoff suit I’ve always wanted. I’ve always desired a windowpane pattern in a double breasted variety with wide peak lapels and cuffed pants, along with suspender buttons (and belt loops, making it versatile)  so it should come as no surprise that that is exactly what I ordered!

Since my measurements are already on file, my order came in relatively quick and I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I got the box

As you can see, the suit comes perfectly folded and packed and includes a garment bag (a nice touch). Also pictured is the tie I picked up which is of lovely thick silk for a perfect knot.

In all its glory!

In all its glory!

You can see that I went with a light blue windowpane pattern and the black buttons on it really make it pop against the light backdrop of the fabric. You can also see the tie that I picked up with it. A better shot of it here.

Oh, and how can I forget the funky liner I chose along with my monogram (a song from one of my idols, Ol’ Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra)

This suit will go perfect with my recent shirt and cufflink order that I recently received from EPH as well (when you have a discount, you use it!)

As a bonus, and to support Movember (in addition to shaving my face fully for the only time all year), I also picked up the “Rusty Mustache” tie and tie bar (we are running specials on the 2 and 25% of your purchase goes to the Movember foundation). Speaking of which, you can donate to my campaign here. (Shameless plug intended)

New Style Icon: Lapo Elkann

Lapo Elkann, Gianni Agnelli’s grandson, accomplished businessman/entrepreneur and a hell of a snazzy dresser. I’m talking extremely-wide lapels, bright colors, funky accessories and done with confidence which is always key!

Listen to some good life advice from him here:

Notice the use of bold colors, how he uses eyewear as a sartorial statement and carries himself with confidence, which pulls it all together. What I’m trying to tell you my friends, is that you gotta live on the edge and take chances when you dress, be bold, make a statement sometimes, or if you have his or my confidence level, dress like this always! Because gentlemen, the best thing you can wear besides a suit is your confidence 😉

Buona Sera, Goodnight,

-The Don 😉
